Paul Stockwell, Artist

BA (Hons) Fine Art Painting

I studied Fine Art Painting in the 1980s at Bristol Polytechnic and Winchester School of Art, after which I worked in a gallery for a while before a university career in the field of Fine Art, spanning over 30 years. I took early retirement in 2020 and am now able to concentrate on my own artwork in a very tranquil corner of the Emerald Isle, where I gain inspiration from the wildflowers and trees which surround me.

Elspeth Stockwell, Photographer

MA Economics, BA (Hons) Economics, NatDip Horticulture

I started my working life as a university researcher, interviewing diverse groups of people including NHS patients and drug addicts serving time in prison. After two decades of research I decided to switch careers and establish a garden design business. This enabled me to work far more autonomously, creatively and sculpturally, with plants as my inspiration. Over the following 15 years I designed numerous gardens, and built exhibition gardens for the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), all of which were awarded top medals.

Now semi-retired, life is less frenetic, which means I have time to pursue my passion for photography; a creative field I have always admired and appreciated. Iā€™m inspired by both landscapes and cityscapes, but I am most fascinated by the people within them.

I recently exhibited my work as part of a group photography show at the Fulacht Fiadh Cafe, Manorhamilton (Sept 2023).
